The co-founder, Fuzion Fitness Centre, Mr. Akin Maja, has urged Nigerians to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking at a cancer awareness programme, themed ‘Safari Workout’, organised by the centre in collaboration with iWOW in Lagos on Saturday, Maja said that the fitness organisation was set up to help in creating awareness on the early detection, prevention and management of different diseases.

He said, “For the past six years, we have been doing Zumba turn event, which is about creating awareness about botulism, breast cancer and depression-in partnership with iWOW.

“As parents of special needs children, it is important that we let people know that we have facilities and schools in Nigeria to manage such problems. We have centres in Ikoyi, Apapa, Victoria Island, Lagos and we do private classes in the United Kingdom. We also want to educate Nigerians on the need to keep fit, stay healthy and happy.”

A member of the group, Mrs. Angela Emuwa, said the initiative was aimed at creating awareness on healthy living through workout and dance.

Emuwa said, “Initially it was Fuzion’s idea to organise the event, but iWOW suggested that they partner. So, they decided to create awareness for healthy living through workouts using a type of dance called Zumba and a mix of Nigerian songs.”

Olympic Gold medallist and Chief Operating Officer, Institute for Registered Exercise Professionals,  Enee Udo-Obong, and the founder, Sebeccly Cancer Care and Support Centre, Lagos, Dr. Omolola Salako, were among the dignitaries that attended the event.
